Pryor Board of Education members welcomed students, parents, and families for a night of recognitions and celebrations at the May 5, 2025, regular board meeting—and yes, there was cake.

The evening focused on honoring leadership and achievement throughout Pryor Public Schools. Friends, family, district administrators, and board members gathered to recognize Wes Miller, longtime Pryor Public Schools Board of Education Clerk. After 14 years of dedicated service, Miller is stepping down, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership and commitment to the district.

Board President Fred Sordahl praised Miller for his steadfast integrity and influence, noting that he was an integral part of shaping Pryor Public Schools into what it is today.

In addition to honoring Miller, the Board recognized the Pryor Middle School Academic Team for capturing the OJABA 7th/8th Grade State Championship—marking the first academic bowl state title in school history. Heather Braucher and Kaleb Trowbridge coach the winning team.

The board also heard from Roosevelt Elementary Principal Brian Bradshaw, who provided an update on his campus. He noted that Roosevelt had received the Leader in Me Legacy Award earlier in the year, setting the tone for campus.

“We have a tremendous staff at Roosevelt,” Bradshaw said. “What I like about the Leader in Me is that it’s really about character traits—trust, integrity, and growth—which is exactly what we want in our students and our staff.”

He emphasized the importance of taking small, consistent steps toward leadership and noted that students are increasingly stepping into leadership roles. Four students recently represented Roosevelt in the Leader in Me Global Speech Competition, demonstrating the school’s commitment to growing future leaders.

From recognizing years of board service to celebrating student accomplishments and schoolwide progress, the evening was a reminder of the shared dedication that drives success across the district.
